「まず、新人には書かせる。　それに徹底的に駄目出しをするんですよ。　若い頃は善し悪しなんか分からないから、徹底的に自分のやってることを考えさせる。
　そうすると何が役に立って、何が役に立たないか分かってくる。　作家にとって必要なのは自分が要求されることに忠実になることなんですよ。　それが分かってる作家は大成するんで、新人のウチに何度も書き直しさせて徹底的に鍛えなければならないんです」

　という話を聞いた某ベテラン編集の人が大激怒。

「お前は一回でも、今まで自分のやり方を批判されたことがあるのか！　反論できない新人にクソみたいな理論押しつけて、何人たたきつぶしたんだ！」

「新人は馬鹿とは付き合わなくて良い、才能がすりつぶされる！　自分の納得できる相手が見つかるまで、投稿持ち込みを繰り返した方が、我慢して書くより100倍ましだ」
